I usually recommend creators to use Ko-fi, but most NSFW creators people are stuck with Patreon. The problem with Patreon is that it has big user base band it never improved its services, which cause many technical problems, including slow page loading and terrible navigation. Managing membership is not as convenient as other platforms. Worst of all is that Patreon can censor creators and delete pages based on political views.

NSFW Membership Platforms

Fanbox

PixivFANBOX, launched in 2016, is a Japanese subscription-based platform for anime creators to engage with fans and receive support. Initially offering blog-like features, it evolved in 2018 to allow any Pixiv user to become a creator with customizable support plans. It caters to various creators including illustrators, VTubers, cosplayers, and NSFW anime artworks. The platform defines "AI-generated content" as primarily AI-produced work and prohibits its posting. However, AI-assisted or explained content, and machine-translated text are not restricted. PixivFANBOX enforces these rules by inspecting posts and may take actions like hiding or deleting violating content or accounts.

Unifans

Unifans is a new upcoming membership platform integrated with AI features, including writing content and translation, to enable creators to break language barriers and expand to global communities. It allows creators to express their creativity with limited NSFW content, while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. Public spaces on creator pages, like banners and profile pictures, must contain safe-for-work content. However, adult content, including explicit nudity and sexual themes, is permitted only in posts for paying members. Unifans' content policies are designed to balance creative freedom with community standards, respecting diverse ages and cultural norms. The platform's guidelines are subject to change, reflecting societal evolution and regional differences. For more information, creators are encouraged to review Unifans' Community Guidelines and related blog articles.

Fanvue

Fanvue is branded as another AI subscription platform designed to empower content creators. It offers quicker payouts and lower fees compared to OnlyFans, and combines AI messaging, voice notes and analytics to increase creators earnings 24/7. It supports AI-generated media with specific guidelines which require AI content to be disclosed as such and not be misleading or harmful. Content involving real persons must have consent. Fanvue's policies on explicit content allow such material but require it to be flagged as "18+." The platform prohibits explicit content involving minors and requires proof of age for subjects in explicit content. Fanvue actively moderates content to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

Indiegogo

Indiegogo, founded in 2008, is an American crowdfunding platform, similar to the popular alterative Kickstarter platform, based in San Francisco. It allows individuals to fund ideas, charities, or start-ups, charging a 5% fee plus additional credit card processing fees. The site operates on a rewards-based system but has also introduced equity-based campaigns. Indiegogo launched Indiegogo Life (now Generosity.com) for personal fundraising, later acquired by GoFundMe. Prohibited content includes nudity, sexually explicit material, and graphically violent content. Indiegogo differs from Patreon, which is better suited for regular content creation through a subscription model. For a detailed overview, visit the Indiegogo website.

Buy me a Coffee

Buy Me a Coffee is a platform for creators to receive financial contributions from their fans as an alternative to the popular platform Ko-fi. In general, it does not offer anything unique features in comparison to Ko-fi nor Patreon. The growth of the brand is based on its user-friendly platform and a light hearted donation since buying a person a coffee is more intimate than giving out money. It maintains a safe environment by prohibiting illegal, hateful, violent, or sexual content. Payments are processed through Stripe, requiring adherence to their guidelines. The platform applies its content guidelines across all features and prohibits various forms of harmful, extremist, and sexually explicit content. AI-generated content, especially involving explicit adult activities or using artists' work without consent, is also prohibited. Creators can tag their pages as NSFW, but this does not permit policy violations. Violations can lead to account limitations or suspension.
